The iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, nearly as renowned for its spectacular locations background as it is for its bathing beauty subjects in the fore, has set its shoot in the Maldives. In particular, the resorts of Anantara and Naladhu had the pleasure of hosting the crew from SI Swimsuit 2010. The venue ties into a bit of an eco-theme. I’m not sure the models can speak very authoritatively on climate change, but they are certainly role models for consuming less…clothing.
I was in Bandos in 2008, they were shooting for sports Illustrated in 2008 there as well.. so its not the first time in Maldives 🙂
Good point. To clarify, it was the first 'headline shoot by the main magazine for the notorious swimwsuit issue'.
According to Wikipedia – en.wikipedia.org/…/Sports_Illustrated_Swimsuit_Issue – it was only the second time that the 'Swimsuit Edition' was shot in the Maldives (the other was 1998) and the first time it was centered on the Maldives (majority of shots, cover). Baros in 2008 might have been a subsidiary version of the magazine (some countries have their own off-shoots) or some other feature.
